As of March 25, 2011, the submission of LMO (Labour Market Opinion) applications online has not been possible, due to the need for a secure online application system. The new online process should be ready by June 2011. Until such time, employers may continue to submit via mail or fax to the appropriate Service Canada office.
New application forms that reflect the changes made to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program are now available. These changes are designed to further protect immigrant workers as well as enhance the integrity of the program. Each new application form is now specific to a particular stream. For Example: Live in Caregiver or Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program.
Completed applications sent to Service Canada by March 31, 2011, are to be processed in accordance with the old requirements. All LMO applications sent after April 1, 2011, should be made using the new LMO application forms and will be processed in accordance with the new amendments to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.
