The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program evalutes Canadian immigration applicants on the basis of six factors, one of which includes language proficiency. All applicants are required to submit results from a CIC-designated language test.
IELTS results are accepted for the English language and TEF results are accepted for the French language. A maximum of 24 points will be awarded to language proficiency in the applicant’s first official language and an a maximum of 4 points will be awarded to proficiency in the applicant’s second official language. These are assessed based on an individual’s reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Please refer to the infographic below to familiarize yourself with the Federal Skilled Worker Program’s conversion of the results from CIC-designated language tests into the points applicants receive in order to be eligible for Canadian immigration and permanent residency.
